3 year old Amana top freezer needs your help

Due to my failing business and downsizing to a studio apartment, I had to move my frig..The maintenance man had to reverse both doors to accommodate my new apartment. Since then the freezer is leaking air from one side. I’m assuming after 3 years of the door being on one side and now reversed the seals are different.
I called the store that I bought the frig from and they want to send out a repair man, but I can’t afford it right now. I’m afraid the freezing up will cause the motor to overwork and go out..Besides all my food is getting iced up.

If anyone knows an easy and affordable way for me to fix this I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance

The first thing I would do is visually inspect the door alignment and the door gasket for proper sealing.

The door seal (if it’s not broken) can be adjusted and/or reshaped in most cases by carefully using a hair dryer and then taping the door in closed position for a few hours.

Gene your a doll. I’ve been gone all weekend and what a mess in that freezer when I got home. I took all the food out, defrosted and wiped it dry. Got out the blow dryer and tried to reform the rubber..
I’m wondering how long before I know if its worked or not. Really don’t want to put all the food back in (its all in another freezer) if its not working..
Thanks so much

How it’s now?

Gene.

I’ll try the blow dryer again this afternoon…
Gene you said to tap it for hours, I’m not sure what you mean by that. After I heated it up, I closed it and opened it a few times. Then I ran my finger in between the rubber when the door was closed to try to mold the seal close to the door.
Any other thoughts? I know the seal isnt cracked it was working perfect when the door was reversed…
PS the maintenance guy had told me to buy some insulation 1/8th inch thick sealant tape. I was reluctant to do that..
