Old Jenn-Aire C10106 downdraft countertop 240 VAC grill, now 3 wire hookup, want 4 wire three pole hookup (NEMA 14-30 connection). Need to know how to hookup ground wire to grill; neutral load wire from grill goes to new CFCI double breaker. Present 3 wire neutral/ground wire bypasses double breaker, connects to grounded bus bar as new ground wire must do, not connected to neutral load wire. Any ideas, thoughts, on how to sort out where to attach ground wire on grill apparatus? Usually in dryers or stoves there are directions for such upgrading work, not so for this old grill. THANKS! Bummer Bob
I am assuming that the unit has a terminal strip.
If not then, you are hard wiring it in.
The Neutral and earth ground are separate on a 4 wire hook up.
The line Neutral goes to the neutral on the terminal strip after the ground strap is removed from it. The line earth ground then get hooked to the cooktop’s frame/chassis.
If there was no ground strap from the Neutral to the chassis, You will have to remove the terminal strip to see if it is attached through the back wher you cannot see it.
Here is a link with some additional info, at the bottom of the page.
It is for a dryer but a stove is basically the same,
