1960's Tappan Fabulous 400

G’day All
Need to get to the back of the slide out range of this Fabulous 400. Am unable to get it out any further than the standard slide out to cook. There must be some sought of locking devise one must over ride. Any help would be appreciated.
The actual problem is none of the burners work. The 120 sockets all work.
Any help appreciated!
Thanks Mike

Unplug or turn off stove. Remove cover behind burner drawer by removing two screws at bottom front of cover. Pry bottom front of cover up a bit and pull out gently until wires prevent furhter movement. Look behind cover and find plug on wires and unplug, and set cover aside. There is a small palte at right side back of drawer, covering burner safety switch. remove screw holding plate, and 2 screws holding switch. Should be 4 wires on switch, usually one or more broken off. Repair and hopefully burners will work. Good luck. If this is not it, you can remove top cover of stove by loosening top front trim piece, and under top cover is hopefully a schematic for your stove.

The outlets are on a separate wire bundle from the range elements. I had to remove the panel light and back panel to get at the element wiring. There are 5 screws across the bottom of the ovens behind the bottoms of the doors tha allow you to remove the upper frame and glass for the light. Then there is a screw below each outlet that allow you to remove the panel behind the burners. All the wiring and the drawer interlock are accessable then. If all burners are not working, check the interlock switch. It is common to all.

If you find the 4 wires on the burner safety switch intact, check to see that the plate that actuates the switch when the drawer is open pushes the switch button down far enough to close the switch! Mine was just barely depressing the button, causing 2 burners not to work…This can be adjusted by bending the plate slightly downward…And good luck finding a replacement florescent tube and starter like the one used in the stove!
