1954 Sears Coldspot Freezer - Overload relay replacement

Main Symptom: Compressor fails to start
What happens & when: No start. Wiring in horrible shape and will be replaced. Need help identifying a replacement for Delco/GM HWS&O Relay part# 5396577 or a modern alternative. No wiring diagram available, but there is a 3-conductor cable from relay to compressor; 2-conductor cable from relay to power block; 2-conductor cable from power block to line. 2-conductor cable from power block to thermostat.

Existing relay housing is old, cracked bakelite or similar and markings are missing. Similar model # relay (1 year newer model freezer) marked with 120VAC, 1/8HP, OVERLOAD 4.0A. Patent search for 2,242,769 shows the design of the relay and method of action. Current heats an armature which keeps the circuit closed under normal load/draw. When armature is heated above a certain temp, it deflects to a position where the circuit is switched open to protect the load.
