1950's Maytag need schematics

I have been puzzling back together a 1950’s Wringer style Maytag and everything fits right, gears operating, etc but I was not the one who took apart and I have a feeling that I may be missing some seals and/or gaskets. Then my friend and I are having an argument over some washers that to me appear to be a plastic maybe rubber, but he says it doesn’t matter-metal will work. There s a reason that metal was not used originally right??? Anyway I need a schematic (???) drawing if anyone could help me out. Peace and happy washing to all–Fancynancy:p

You need to supply a model number.

Even with it info may not be available for this unit.

Yes there will be a reason why plastic washers were used.

But they may not be available so you may have to use metal.
If they are not inside the tub re: water, then metal washers with a coating of grease may work. Do not go crazy with the grease.

If the washers are used to electrically isolate a part then metal will not work.
