1 ¾ yr old refrigerator compressor stopped working

Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number:FFHT1425VW - no icemaker
Main Symptom: compressor shut off; fridge light stays on
What happens & when: Perhaps after a power outage & then turned back on, the compressor stopped working. Or, coils need cleaning & I cannot access the coils (see photo).

Error Code (if any): Not a smart fridge
Parts or tests already tried: I tried unplugging, waiting, and replugging in. I tried to find a way to open a panel to coils, but could not find small panel. It’s a very large panel and an already open space at bottom (photo). A Youtuber suggests for a “new” fridge, the compresor may stop when there’s a power surge and it fries the capacitor for the compressor & it needs replacing and a fridge socket surge protector (?). Or, when my kitchen circuit maxed and turned off, I could not locate the right circuit for these outlets in my circuit box, and I turned off the whole house circuit then turned back on. Need help with what parts to order, as my local appliance repair does not have access soon for this capacitor.

First, make sure there is proper voltage at the refrigerator outlet. Take your multimeter and check for 120 volts. Then, if your compressor is not starting, make sure there is voltage going to the start relay that is attached to the side of the compressor. Check for 120 volts at the blue wire. If the voltage is there, the start relay may be shot: 5304520509 Refrigerator Compressor Start Relay | Genuine Frigidaire OEM In Stock. Your model does not have a start capacitor. If you have voltage at the start relay, replace the relay. If that does not fix it, the compressor is bad and would need to be replaced.

Purchased a multimeter. Socket is working right. Is there a youtube video in this Forum (as the customer service agent suggested) that shows how to find and test the blue wire on the start relay for this model or similar system Frigidaire?

Set your meter to ac voltage, make sure the refrigerator is tuned on, stick onw probe into ,the blue wire at the relay, touch the other probe to a metal base, look for 120 volts.

Hi, another question raised by a Youtube video on this exact fridge: When plugged in, the start relay made a clicking noise. Mine has not made a clicking noise when plugged in. Does that mean the start relay is bad?

You can’t always go by a clicking noise, check voltage like previously explained. Voltage never lies.

I tried the blue wire leading to start relay when plugged in, reads .4

In your experience, has a power surge (not lightning strike level); just a circuit box shut off and on –had the capability to fry the compressor? I’m at the must I buy a new refrigerator despite how new this fridge is – since no appliance repair shops in a 3-county wide area have a field staff person able to replace a compressor & the sealant needed for the refrigerant.

What does .4 mean? If the voltage going in on the blue wire is not 120 Volts AC, you don’t know if the compressor is bad. You have to have proper voltage going to the compressor for it to work. Check for voltage as previously described and let me know the voltage measurement.
