A year ago I replaced the heating element and bearing/bushing kit. The dryer has worked fine. Now the dryer barely heats, I checked the heating element and it is fine. The venting hose is open with no restrictions. No matter what setting the dryer is on there is very little heat. What other parts would most likely cause this.

Did you check the element to be sure it is not grounded or just that it had continuity? Here is the wiring diagram http://manuals.frigidaire.com/prodinfo_pdf/Webster/134067000shts.pdfDid you check the element to be sure it is not grounded or just that it had continuity? Have you checked that there is 240 volts at the plug when the dfryer is off and when it is running? Be careful 240 volts is lethal!!! |

heating element is not touching ground and has continuity. I have 240 at the plug. Could the thermostat be bad?

Yes it could be the thermostat.
Could also be the fabric selector switch, perhaps it is holding the thermostat's internal heater on all the time. You could unplug the unit and check the switch for closed/open contacts at different settings. Could also unplug one side of the thermostat's heating element, tape up the connector so it cannot short to anything, plug the dryer back in and give it a try. If you now have good heat it is probably the fabric selector switch. |
