I was cleaning the inside of this six month old dryer with a rag yesterday. I was manually turning the drum a little as I was wiping it down. Without thinking, I was probably turning it in both directions while cleaning the inside. I something break inside (it sounded like metal). The drum now won't turn when I start the dryer. Any ideas on what this could be?

Thanks denman. I couldn't figure out how to open this Centennial line of Maytag dryer as they seem different than the instructions I've found online which, I think, are for older models. I just found a service manual on appliancejunk.com and it showed me how to open the dryer. I found the idler pulley sitting by itself on the bottom of the cabinet. Now I just have to figure out how to put it back together.

When the dryer is off, isn't it ok to manually turn the drum in either direction while cleaning it? This idler fell off while I was wiping down the inside of the dryer with a rag. I don't think I was paying attention to the direction I was moving the drum while cleaning it and I likely moved it in both directions.
