The other day I was unpleasantly surprised to find my Dishwasher had developed a steady drip from the water inlet valve (specifically the brass L-connector).
In the course of drying things out and assessing the issue I noticed it also appeared to have a drip coming from somewhere above as well. Both drips are located around this valve, but I couldn't see where the higher one was dripping from.
So I was thinking it might be good to replace the entire inlet valve assembly. However the upper drip has me concerned that the tub itself may be cracked. I haven't taken the unit completely out yet to look, but I'm not sure that's going to tell me anything.
Question: So with the second leak in mind is there anything else (apart from a cracked tub) that one might suggest replacing while I'm down there?
Obviously if the tub is cracked my whole effort here will be for naught, but it's a risk I'm willing to take versus what a service call has been quoted to cost me.

Here is the parts breakdown Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL DU1100XTPQ6 Undercounter Dishwasher | AppliancePartsPros.comIt also lets you download the manual which says that the plastic tubs have a 20 year warranty and the stainless tubs are lifetime warranty. I am not sure where the overflow float/switch is on this unit but sometimes crud collects in the float mechanism and can caus a leak. Also the fill assembly may be leaking. A small mirror and a flashlight often come in handy when tracing leaks. A mechanics mirror is ideal re: a small mirror on an extend-able handle. Or you could tape a small mirror to a stick if required. |

Thanks for the response.
I've opted to replace the inlet valve as that appeared to be the sole source of the leak. Hopefully that does the trick because the only other part is the inlet itself on the side of the tub.
As for the tub, I don't see any sign of cracking there so that seems very unlikely.
