I just burned myself reaching into the freezer.

The freezer stacks on top of the fridge and both seem to be working fine. I had opened the freezer door and was arranging a few food items. In doing this, I rested my arms on the top of the closed fridge door and against the front panel of the freezer section - the place where the freezer door closes and seals.

Suddenly, I was burned. Feeling around the front and sides, the outside of the refrigerator is hot around the freezer section. The fridge section is normal.

It's been a hot day (90 degrees indoors) and I can imagine the freezer working hard but this is unusual. I've never noticed this before.

Any thoughts?

Look for an overheating compressor and clogged condensing coils.
