I bought a few parts for the ice and water dispenser on the freezer door, but haven't been able to figure out how to remove the plastic trim on the outer surface of the door surrounding the ice and water dispenser. There are two slots along the bottom edge of the trim that I tried to gently pry. However, the part did not easily pop off and I am afraid that if I pry harder, something will break. Any suggestions?

My model is ED25DQXDN05 Whirlpool.
The panel moves right to left or left to right a little when you push on either side of it means it is not screwed in from the back side. This means that if you pull on the left side of the panel in the center outwards and put a flat head screw driver under it and pull down on the whole panel sliding the screw driver downwards the outer of the two bottom clips will let go. The other clip will let go and you can then push the panel up from the bottom. There are three up clips that are longer on the top part which would break off if you would try prying from the top to begin with. Then once removed there are three screws holding a smaller panel on. Hope this helps!

Hey wasmussen,

Thanks for the reply! Your reply gave me enough courage to go ahead and stick a putty knife under the lower edge of the trim and pry harder. First one side popped loose and then I pried the other side loose. Then, as you said, I could just slide it upward to clear the 3 top tabs. I was able to replace the two broken plastic slide switches without taking anything else loose. I replaced the panel by sliding it down onto the top 3 tabs and pushing in on the bottom to snap it back into place! All fixed!! Thanks again!
