I have a GE Profile fridge (PFS22MBS) that is experiencing defrost problems. Both the fridge and freezer will hold there temps for a few weeks, then eventually the freezer will start dropping into the negatives and the fridge will start warming up. The evaporation coils are completely blocked with ice. I have to manually defrost with a hair dryer before the unit will hold steady again (only temporary). I have replaced the motherboard and have checked the continuity of the defrost thermostat, reading about 30 ohm and the blue surface is flat. What else could I check for? Thanks for the quick response. The thermostat was number 621, Thermodisc(fuse-m). I have read on other posts that if the blue top is still smooth then it is working just fine. I have also seen that you should be getting a continuity reading of 0-1 ohm, I got about 30. Is this value still good?

So I ordered the thermodisc and installed it. Still having issues. Broke down and had a service technician come in and he assessed the problem as a bad defrost heater. How dificult are these to replace by the homeowner. I got a quote of $460 for parts and labor.
