Last week I replaced the water filter and now the ice maker is not filling with water. When I was investigating this I noticed the refrigerator is not cycling on and off, it is running continuously. Could the two be related? Could the water line or inlet valve be frozen due to the continous run time?

I can manually force the fridge into defrost mode (by pushing the light switch 5 times in 6 seconds) and this stops the compressor but I could not tell if the defrost heater turns on. This cycle will time out after a while.

The coils have not been cleaned in a while so this probably reducing the efficiency of the unit and I will clean that first but how can I tell if I need to replace the controller box or just one of the parts inside of it?

Thanks in advance
Geoff
