not sure how old this dryer is really. i'm renting this house.
i broke the timer knob (called 'Control Dial' in User's Manual).:(
have wet close in washer waiting to be dried.
can i make dryer work with broken off knob by pushing the middle section in and rotating?
would part # AP4039653 be the right one for my Model with the Serial#: 11818453JA?
how to replace old broken off pieces and set in the new knob?
Thanks so much for any help!!:o

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for MAYTAG MDE508DAYK Dryer - Ele | AppliancePartsPros.com

If you click on the part's picture you will often get more views and clicking on them will expand them.

Hard to say what you can do without actually being there.

By the look of the parts, if the timer shaft is broken you will have to replace the timer.

The knob just pushes onto the timer shaft.
