The self-cleaning cycle of the oven starts normally. The door locks, the heating elements all come on as normal. However, after the oven heats up, the oven shuts off, beeps, and F3 is shown as the failure code.
Additionally, I have noticed that there is heat coming from the oven (even with the door locked) such that the glasstop and the front control panel get hot. Concerning the control panel area just above the oven door, this area gets blisteringly--and I do mean absolutely blisteringly--hot and will cause burns to the body. I consider myself lucky that the oven aborts itself during this event, because if combustible items happened to be on the front area of the stovetop, fire could easily occur.
Despite reading that F3 indicates that the oven temperature sensor (RTD...what does that mean anyways?) is open, I am more inclined to think that maybe the rope-like oven door seal may be at fault here. Heat also escapes during normal baking, although aside from unwanted, extra heat in the kitchen, everything appears to be working normal.
After the oven cools down and has been reset, it functions normally until the cleaning cycle is selected, and then the oven goes through the same malfunctioning sequence.
Any thoughts on this matter? How difficult is it to replace the door seal, and do I need any special tools, adhesives, etc. to accomplish this task?
Thank you for any and all assistance.

A bunch of folks have looked at this thread, yet no one replied--not even to tell me to go pound sand you know where.
Any thoughts on the problem? Thank you for your reply. Anybody?
