My new valve just showed and as the paper in the box states it does differ from the original. The mounting bracket doesn't mount where it's supposed to because the mount is also different, and the inlet is a different size as well. When installed, the new valve hums when water pressure is applied, and water flows freely and does not stop. I'm at a loss now as this is my first purchase from this site. On a side note, the 1st two pictures shown for this part on this site look accurate, but the third(which was the one shipped to me) is a completely different valve than the first two. Where did I go wrong?

Not one other post in this thread.. not one? It seems as though beyond the suggestion of switching ice/water valves to diagnose one's problem this forum is practically useless. Hoping someone can prove that theory wrong.

First of all, remember you are asking for free help, so please stop complaining. We are service professionals who DONATE our time answering your questions, FOR FREE. I cant answer as to why those three pictures do NOT show the same valve, the first two are the same, with a garden hose fitting, but dont assume you attach a garden hose to it. there is an adapter that fits your typical ¼" water line to this hose fitting, that you can purchase at home depot.
As for that third picture, that is not only a completely different valve, but its a different brand valve, its not even a frigidaire, its a whirlpool valve.

Now, if you say that the water is coming non stop, place a voltmeter across both terminals of the valve, and wait for the ice maker to call for water. You should get 120 volts for about 8-10 seconds, and no longer. If your valve is energized for longer than 8-10 seconds, you have a bad ice maker.

Your help is appreciated, I want to make that clear so thank you much for your input. Yes, I have an adaptor that I installed at the same time the filter went on. As for hooking up a garden hose to the fridge you must have seen it all, man. Your expertise has been useful, even customer service was trying to tell m that the Whirlpool valve is the new, 'redesigned' valve for my application. You might imagine my frustration. I may not have fired off so much had this forum not been affiliated with the site selling the wrong parts. Thank you again, they are sending off a new valve, hope it's the right one this time.

I finally found the correct valve elsewhere and once installed there was still no ice. I brought the fridge outside and shot the lines underneath out with an air compressor removing the built up lint. HA! I have ice. Sticky it.
