When auto sense drying the dial never turns - so when the clothes are dry it does not "sense" them dry and won't shut off.

I assume this happens only on automatic and that the dryer timer moves normally on timed setting. I don't have a wiring diagram for this model, but on many of these there is no "sensing" of dryness. Instead the timer moves when the thermostat opens and the heating stops. Since this happens more frequently as the clothes dry, the timer will move more rapidly towards the end. Try replacing the cycling thermostat, this part here. Part number: AP3131939
