I was having cooling problems with my ge side by side tfx20jrbkww and Found the defrost not to be working. I defrosted the fridge and and turned back on and saw the fridge was working by the frost on coils and it got cold again and it was just the defrost assembly.Timer works fine and I replaced the therm and defrost heater I got today from Appliance Parts Pro. Now after installing the new defrost assembly I pluged the fridge back in and turned it on and then switched it to defrost mode to see if the heater was working not thinking the thermastat was not going to let the defrost come on due to not being cold yet. So I switched it out of defrost mode with the timer and then the compreser just kicked in and out. What should I do. Could it be head pressure? I have unpluged it again to let it sit awhile. It was working before I installed the new defrost assembly while the defrost assembly that was bad was still in. Thanks in advance for any help.

What happened when you plugged it back in after you let it rest?

IT"S WORKING NOW! Must have been head pressure from when I turned it on and then went right to defrost mode after only running a min or so. My fault. I should have known the defrost heater would not come on till the stat got cold enough to test the defrost. Thanks for all the help up here on the forum. Just reading up here is so helpfull. And thanks Appliance Parts Pro.Com!
