I am purchasing a boat with a norcold fridge in the galley. The fridge was very moldy inside as the person who had the boat before left a mess in the fridge and it sat there for months. The boat had a survey and the surveyor said the fridge should not be safe for food storage. They also said they say this as a precautionary measure.

My question is can a fridge become unsafe for human food consumption? I have cleaned the fridge and used bleach and it look almost new inside. The fridge still cools just fine and the freezer works. Should I still be concerned and replace the fridge or would a good cleaning take care of it.

Thanks for any help.

The best thing in my opinion is to call a professional mold cleaner.
