light in fridge section stays off when door is open unless I jiggle the switch; but it doesn't stay on. I've found the part number but can't seem to find installation instructions. Anyone know how to get the old switch out??

This may not be the exact thing you have, but here is a typical light switch. Part number: AP3193221
If you click on the different viesw of the part, you will see the tab on the side of it that holds it in place. Unplug your machine. the switch should come out with some gentle prying. The wire terminals will pull off the pins of the switch; installation of the new part is reverse.

looks exactly like the part; I was just afraid to pry too hard but it does look like it will come out. I've ordered the part so we'll see! thanks.

Glad you got it. Probably saved yourself about $100 in service calls and labor.

OK, just received my switch from Appliancepartspros.com in less than 24 hrs. and it was installed in less than 5 minutes!
Unplug the refrigerator. Look at your new switch and orient it to your present switch...ie. the pivot for the switch is on the top with the retaining tab to the right and the wires to the left.
To remove the switch, You would need to bend that tab in which is nearly impossible because of the close tollerance of the square hole so here's what worked for me. I pryed around the switch until I got it to come out approx. 3/8" to 1/2". This of course folded the little tab back which would seeming make it very difficult to get out but......I just slipped one of my wifes paring knives ( unbeknowst to her) in on the right side and the little tab cut off easily and came out. Then the replacement is simple....just unplug the two wires and plug and press the new switch in. I scored MOJOR brownie points. Good luck! :) :) :)
