My Kelvinator clothes washer flooded the wash room. I believe it was on the fill cycle. The water seamed to come from the front of the unit on the right side facing it. Any idea what to do? How do I take unit apart to check?

Here are your parts Replacement parts for FRIGIDAIRE AW700G1D Kel(v3) / 27 " Washer | AppliancePartsPros.comCould be the unit just over filled due to a water level switch (Item 21 in Section 4) problem. This switch is actually a pressure switch. It has a tube that runs down to the bottom of the tub, as water fills the tub, air is trapped in the tube. As the water rises, the air pressure in the tube increases until it reaches the switch's set point then the switch activates turning off the water and starting the agitate. Possible problems. 1. Gunk blocking water from entering the tube. Remove the tube at the switch and blow into it to clear the plug. 2. Cracks or holes in the tube allowing the air to escape. Inspect the tube. Also check that it is tight on the switch, if not, cut off half an inch and re-seat it. 3. The switch is toast. Get a piece of tubing with the same internal diameter and attach this to the switch. Start a fill, then blow into the tube. You should be able to stop the water flow without blowing very hard. If you cannot stop it the switch is toast. Note: I am assuming that you can stop the water flow by unplugging or turning off the unit. If the only way to stop it is to shut off the taps your water valve is shot. |

Is the tube you mentioned part 53 section 2? Do I gain access to this and the switch on the back of the unit?

By the look of it you should be able to get into the control console and the switch from the back. Looks like it has a cover plate. I also noticed last week that the unit only fills in the warm warm cycle, cold cold, is it time for e new washer? New temp gauge? New timer? May add up to a new washer....

It is possible that there is a problem with the hot side of the water valve so that you are only filling with cold water.
Turn off the hot water tap.
Undo the hose at the machine and run some water into a pail, to be sure hot water is reaching the machine.
If OK
Look into the machines hot water valve and check that the filter screen on the input side of the valve is clean.
If not clean it. Do not permanently remove it as it is there to keep crud out of the valve which could hold the valve open and cause a flood.
If OK
Reattach the hose, unplug the unit and switch the wires from the hot to the cold and vice versa.
Plug it in and give it a try.
If you still only have cold water, the water valve needs to be replaced.
If it fills with hot water then you know the problem is not the hot water valve, probably the temperature selector switch. Note that I cannot find a wiring diagram for this unit so cannot say for sure.

I cannot say it depends on how good of shape the unit is in.

Again cannot find a wiring diagram but most old units do not have a temp gauge. They turn the water valves either off or full on.

I ran it when I got home. I checked the water level switch and the tube. Both functioned when I blew into the tube. The unit was half full but still leaking. It had to be coming from the outer tub. So I waved the white towel and purchased I high effienceny Whirl pool model. Game over. Thanks for the help! I think this site is awesome! I will use it again and again!
