The Dairy Door (part AP3506868 or D7805714) broke on our Amana TZ18QW top-freezer refrigerator. (It's plastic, and the tab that secured it into the door and served as its hinge broke.) It's a discontinued part, so no luck ordering it from any of the parts suppliers on the Internet, or from our repair guy locally. But... if anyone has a refrigerator of this model that has died for other reasons and could be cannibalized for parts, I'd like to hear from you. -- Phil, pschwarz@ix.netcom.com

Cannot help with an actual replacement. Hopefully someone else can.
Can suggest a juggery pokery fix. If just the little shaft broke off, get a small piece of wood doweling of the same diameter and length. You can then attach this to where the old shaft was with a small screw. A little bit of epoxy or plastic glue on it will help strengthen it.
If the old shaft was fairly small in diameter, just pre-drill and use a screw of the same diameter. Install it and then remove the screw and cut it down so it is the correct length and re-install. |

Unfortunately the original dairy door is long since gone :-(. It was cracked elsewhere in addition to the hinge-tab. So I am looking for a replacement part that can be "cannibalized" from another unit being discarded.
