The freezer fan stopped the other day and I noticed some ice buildup inside the freezer. We disconnected the refrigerator for a while, plugged it back in again and it started working again. There has been a noticeable fan sound change recently. The fan seems to be slowing down and then speeding back up to normal speed intermittently. Question: Is this fan that blows cold air into the freezer, the evaporator fan motor? If so will ice buildup slow this fan down or will evaporator fan failure also cause this ice buildup?
Thank You Fred

Sounds like it's time replace the motor.
