I forgot to mention previously that i have found icicles hanging from the bottom of the ice maker.

Icicles generally form when there is a warm air leak into the freezer; the condensation freezes during the cooling cycle. Check the integrity of the door gaskets. Also check the temperatures of both the freezer and the fresh food compartmant.
