While cooking the Easter turkey, we had a small grease fire inside the oven. put out the fire. now the control panel will not illuminate. I examined the control panel and it seems fine. any ideas where i should be looking for the problem or what i could test. the model # is probably on the back and would necessitate removal of the oven. anyway it is a free standing gas range with 4 top burners and a contol panel at the top front, self cleaning. The fire was toward the back of the oven and no flames came out from the oven, Thanks for any help

We definitely need the complete model number of the range. You can find it on the oven door frame or on the frame behind the bottom drawer.

Gene.

P.S. Does the ignition for the top burners work?

The model number you posted does not look as a valid Kenmore model number. Is it an American model?

Verify and repost it.

Called Sears Canada and apparently after much messing around , they decided that I should put C880 in front of the model # shown on the range...Hope this helps....Don't know why these numbers weren't on the tag already. ?

Unfortunately I'm not able to provide any reliable advice because Sears does not publish any technical information (diagrams, schematics etc) for non American models.

Thx anyway Gene. I pulled out the range and removed the back access panel, found several wires which had burnt through. I spliced in new wire and the range worked fine:) . Yeah
