The schematic I'm looking at shows the motor as part #48 but, it doesn't show where to locate the darned thing:) Can you help an ignoramous out? :) Thanks, MP

You will need to remove the front panel, note how the belt is routed around the pulley and motor, and remove belt and drum. Check for burnt wires to the motor switch, usually both red wires.
If no burnt wires, you can remove the switch, push in on the actuator, and check continuity between pins 1 and 2, the heavy gauge red wires.
Also, check the thermal fuse on the heater can.

Yes the timer will move and advance with a burned contact in it.

Thank you guys for all of your help. After a week of tinkering I've come to conclude it's either the drive motor or the element and both are too expensive to justify repairing this thing. I found another dryer on Craig's list for $40 and it works:)

Thanks again for all of your follow-up and I've at least obtained a partial education during this process.
