This machine will not agitate or spin when in the wash cycle and water in the tub. When the machine is empty and I press the spin cycle, it works. Machine is level. Inspection of the bottom revealed (I think) a loose belt, which moves freely from left to right. The motor seems loose in its position (torqued a bit). I repositioned motor, took the agitator and tub off and cleaned. Motor works but sounds loud and strained. The kids have been putting large loads of laundry and leaving the machine, which has been jumping across the floor (poor thing). Fills with water and drains well. Goes through all the cycles successfully on the dial. Mom needs help, thanks. p.s. Machine looks brand new, anyway.

If you watch it try to operate with the front panel off you should be able to see if the motor and belt are turning in the agitate and spin cycles.
If so, the transmission may be gone, if not, the motor may be failing.

Manually turning the shaft from under the unit does not result with it turning inside the tub. So therefore I believe the transmission is bad. Thankyou for your help!

I agree with you, and sounds like time to get a nice, new no frills top loader.
Good luck.
