My dryer does not dry very good. I had a chimney sweep come and clean the vents and the vent cover and that has helped a bit, but it still takes 2 cycles to dry a load. My question is, is a bad heating element the only thing which could be causing my problem? What else, if any, could also be causing my problem? Also, my dryer is 18 years old, would I be better off getting a new dryer or will replacing the heating element give some more years of service? Thanks powellalex powellalex@hotmail.com

Remove the rear cover and the lint chute (#1 on the diagram). It's definitely full of lint. Make sure the lint screen is not clogged and/or rusted. - The lint screen Part number: AP2910873
