Gene,
I have a Maytag gas dryer Model: MDG6200AWW. When operating in Auto Dry mode it will run forever and not shut off. It will heat up and dry the clothes but the timer will not advance. It operates perfectly in the timed dry mode. I have been told it is an air flow problem but I confirmed that is not the case. So far I have checked the blower wheel, cleaned/replaced the venting, checked the cycling thermostat, thermal fuse, hi limit thermostat, flame sensor, ignitor, and coils for continuity and all check out perfect. Could it be the actual timer that is bad? Any advice would be great, I am really at a loss on this one. Thank you

Looks like it's cycling on the high limit thermostat instead of the cycling thermostat and that's why there is no power to the timer motor. The only way to check it is to check the high limit thermostat for continuity right after the flame turned off. - The high limit thermostat Part number: AP4036956

Thank you very much for your help Gene. I tested the thermostat again and watched the flame during a cycle. It was cutting in and out quite a bit so I replaced the coils and that seems to have done the trick. Thanks again.
