My GE top loader for all cycles washes fine until the last minute of the cycle and the machine makes a clunking sound as if it is having a hard time turning. This happens at the beginning of the quick wash cycle also. The problem carries over to the spin cycle but it starts at the beginning. I have been able to get it to spin normally on the spin cycle after pushing the button many times. What is my problem?

I ususally cut it off, but once let run to see what would happen and the thing quit turning but you could still tell it was on.
