I was at my local Sears today, asking questions about refrigerators and dishwashers. I was told to stay away from LG because their refrigerators are problematic and the company is experiencing problems that have resulted in very poor customer service and parts availability. The salesman also stated that GE is looking to get rid of it's appliance division and there is question as to who will own them and what support and parts availability will be like. Any truth to these statements?

As a service technician for LG I have no problems getting parts. As a DIYer you may have problems buying LG parts yourself.
