For some reason my washer recently started having small amount of standing water in it after sitting for a while. This happen after running several loads through. As it sits over night and we get about 3 cups of water in it. Any ideas on what could be causing this and a possible fix.

Sounds like your valve assembly is not closing completely. Change it out and it should fix your problem.
