I have a Duet Sport that stopped mid cycle and flashed an F21 error code. Looking at other threads on this forum, I followed their advice and cleaned the pump filter and everything I could find that seemed to be obstructing the flow. After I removed about 5 dollars worth of coins, I powered up the machine, place dial into normal cycle and started the machine. Nothing... All I hear is the buzzing sound of the drain pump. After about 5 minutes, F21 is dislplayed again. The tub does not move, and the water is not being fed into the tub... Seems to be stuck in the drain cycle... Any ideas? Also, when I was cleaning the pump filter, I also removed the black hose that goes from the tub to pump. Inside I found a white ball... Is that supposed to be there? Thanks,

Thanks for the reply. Regarding the ball, while searching around I did come upon a diagram that shows the ball inside the hose that goes from tub to pump.

The pump seems to be working as I removed the pump and the impeller was rotating freely. I also noticed water going down the drain, so there is some water being moved... Puzzling...

Last night, I was able to start a normal cycle but it did fail again with code F21... Maybe I will take the discharge hose and move it lower so as to discharge into a bucket... Maybe the pump is weakening???

I have a 2.5 year old Duet Sport and am having the same problem you described. Did you ever find the solution?:

I have had this problem for awhile now. Multiple fault codes, usually related to drain issues or having to cancel and use drain and spin. Sometimes after several loads I would have to let the machine "rest" in order to get it to do anything. I've done all of the following:

1. Cleaned out the front filter next to pump. Usually after I used my shop vac the washer would work for a load or two.

2. Replaced the water level or Pressure switch. Worked for about 5 loads then same old same old.

3. Replaced the Central Control Unit with similiar results.

As I was about to shoot this machine, I decided to take the pump apart again and could find nothing blocking it. I pulled the impeller part off and inside the housing was a lot of sand and clay (son's football gear) so I cleaned it out and put it all back together.

I have ran the washer for 4 days no with no problems. I do not understand how the sand would effect the moter as all the moving parts are sealed from where I found the sand. Total to fix was about $135 for the computer and pressure switch. Look and see inside behind the impeller before you start replacing parts like the technicians from Whirlpool suggest.
