Hello:

My question concerns the venting of my microwave. It has an outside vent, but on this GE model JVM1870, a panel on the top front of the microwave opens with each use presumably to vent to the room. So, the rest of the house smells like whatever we happened to cook - right now that's bacon, and the house will smell for the next few hours. Should the panel be opening to the inside of the kitchen if we have it vented outside? I'm going to order a charcoal filter to stem the cooking smells, but it seems like we shouldn't have to do this, as it's vented outside. Any advice would be appreciated.

thanks
Mary
