:confused: The Refrigerator I have seems that the refrigerator part is not cooling. Pulled it out, removed rear panel, vacuumed rear and underside. It still seems to not do the job. Removed rear panel in freezer and did not detect any ice buildup.

Here are your parts Replacement parts for BX20S5L models | AppliancePartsPros.comRemoved rear panel in freezer and did not detect any ice buildup. When you did this was there any frost on the coils or only frost on part of the coils which could indicate a freon leak. Best to measure the temperature in the freezer to ensure that it is close to 0 degrees F. Soft ice cream is a good indicator of a poor freezer temperature and the fresh food section is very dependent on the freezer temp. Check to be sure that the evaporator fan in the freezer is running. It is required to push air up into the fresh food. If all OK check the damper (Item 6 in Section 8) is open. This is what regulates the fresh food temperature. |

When I removed the back panel in the freezer all food was frozen. I don't have ice cream but do have soup that I freeze in plastic container and this was frozen solid. It's hard to detect if evaporator fan is operating with all sounds that are in the area. Any recommendations? By the way turned up defrost timer and fan kicked on and looked in freezer and had freezer temp air blowing out freezer grill.

Which fan turned on?
Also turning the defrost timer should only have turned on the fans and compressor if you were in a defrost cycle and you forced it out of defrost. |

Also turning the defrost timer should only have turned on the fans and compressor if you were in a defrost cycle and you forced it out of defrost. Both fans did kick on. I also have to retract my statement about freezer temp air blowing out the freezer grill. It seems the air does not come out in a frozen state. Freon low?

You have to check the coils.
Usually if there is just frost where the freon enters the coils or the frost is patchy, it is an indication of low freon.
Note you have to do this a couple hours after a defrost cycle since the coils will be clear just after defrost.
Another indication of low freon is that the compressor runs continuously. |

If the damper started to go bad it could cause this re: sticking open.
You first have to determine the freezer temperature as everything relies on this.
Your soup may not be a good temperature indicator due to it's water content.
Ice cream works because of it's fat content. |

Ice cream works because of it's fat content. I think I found out what the problem is. I know early I spoke about the freezer temp but noticed it was on a low temp. I did get the chance to look over the damper. This is the problem. It would only open a little under half way when the dial was turned to full. I pushed the damper manually and it opened even more giving me the additionally cooling that was needed. Order part here I come. Being the first time I tried this website I greatly appreciated the expert help you have to offer. This saved me alot of money. Have a great day.
