I have a Whirlpool Gas dryer (model LGB6300LWO) that stopped tumbling and has a strong burning smell. Reading other threads it seems that the Belt could be the issue, but no one else reports the burning smell. I noticed the smell and found the dryer making the normal operating noise and was heating the clothes, but it was not tumbling. I tried running it on different settings and after turning it on/off about 10 times it started to tumble, but then stopped tumbling after I restarted it again. I am not sure if it would have restarted had it been the belt. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. The dryer is about 4 years old. Thank you!

Most likely the problem is a bad motor. Also it is very possible there is a lot of lint built up inside which could get catch on fire and produce a smell. - The part number for the motor is AP3094245 Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool dryer Model LGB6300LW0Gene. P.S. The belt in your dryer could be worn but it's not broken yet.
