The controls for RV36S don't respond to keypad depressions. An internet blog suggested that if pins 12 and 13 didn't indicate closed when the up/down keypad button was depressed the problem was with the keypad.

I ordered part AP3363596 from AppliancePartsPros and installed it. Unfortunately the unit still does not work.

1. I notice that the keypad that was sent to me specifies pcb and rvr models. I have an rvs model. Is this a potential problem?
2. Could the depression pad itself be a problem? I did not get a new one, but did clean the old one.
3. What the best way to test for whether the PCB is properly functioning?
4. Any other suggestions.

The most common are:
1. Main board (inside, that's covered with 4 screws at the left bottom)
2. Rubber touch pad.
3. Touch pad board with harness.

Hi Robert,

You can use the service manual for a full diagnosis on the problem.

Post the results and I'll help you to get the right replacement part.

The keypad PCB you purchased seems to be wrong according to the model number you've posted. Your vent is not a RVS model. It is RV. The "S" describes a color.

You suggested most common problems with Dacor RV36S are:
1. Main board
2. Rubber touch pad
3. Touch pad board with harness

I have just bought and installed #3 from Appliancepartspros. The unit still does not work. Thus the problem is elsewhere.

How do I test for a potential problem with #1 and #2 before purchase?

Robert,

If you have a multimeter and know how to use it then the most reliable to do is to run the troubleshooting as described in the service manual.

If you don't, then the first thing I would do is replace the rubber key pad which is the most common cause of such problem. Make sure to align the key pad with the key pad PCB properly.

- The part number for the key pad is AP3394114

My unit had been, for lack of a better term, flakey for a few years (blinking lights, incomplete resets, etc). Now there is no light on the keyboard at all, and no response to any keypress. I ran the troubleshoot procedure -- found the right voltages in the right places, fuse is good, and there is continuity between the fuse and L3. I'd guess it's time to replace the main controller board. Any other thoughts? What might be the part number of the board?

Thanks,
John

Does anyone know how to get a copy of the service manual for the RV36V Downdraft Airvent?
