I posted on 5-9-08 about a humming in my dryer that indicated a motor problem as the belt was intact. At the same time and I assume related to the motor issue, I noticed that the push button start switch was in the work mode continually, even after either the door had been opened or the timer had minutes on it.
I purchased the new motor and with the exception of a blower wheel issue that I replaced and resolved, all was well. The motor and blower turn freely, smoothly and with no rubbing. However, when I turn on the dryer, the motor overheats and shuts off until it cools down. Because of the push button switch issue, it will start right back up by itself after the motor resets.
What's going on? I noticed that the old motor turned freely, it hadn't seized up so I assumed the start windings were fried. I can certainly cut my losses as I only have wasted another $100 on this 18 year old, but I don't like to give up easily. HELP!!
