I have a jenn-air down draft model number CVE4270B. We have had this down draft for about 10 years. When we are cooking with the grill, only the back of the element heats up (away from where it plugs in to the cook top). This is not new, it has done it from the time we got it. Even if I switch sides only that part of the element heat up. The Jenn-air due came out and says the element is good. When you switch to the cook top drop in both eyes will heat up, but the grill front eye will not heat up. When he put the meter into the cook top plugs, on both sides he got a drop in current from one side of the plug to the other side of the plug. What would cause the grill not to heat up on both parts of the element, but the drop in range top heats up both eyes?:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

The only thing which can cause it in the situation you described is a bad heating element. You have to check it for continuity yourself. The two blades on the very end on each side are for the outside (large) coil and the two other blades are for the inside (small) coil. - The element Part number: AP4426098
