Hi, I just successfully replaced the bearing ring on the front of the dryer drum. After putting things back together the unit wouldn't start. Looking around I found that the neutral (5) wire on the motor harness was disconnected with the end burned. I replaced the connector on the wire and reattached the wire to the motor's wiring harness. Still no luck. I've got power to both the black(6) and red(1) wires at the motor's wiring harness.
When the power switch is engaged the timer runs and power gets through the igniter system but doesn't start the motor. Right now I'm thinking bad motor, with the bad neutral wire being a symptom/cause?

Ok, I was right and it was the motor. Incidentally, the motors are available online for about $80, but some sellers want much more. Also, the bearing ring replacement on the drum seems to have fixed the problem of black marks appearing on clothing.
If you have power to the red(1) and black(6) wires you probably have a problem in the motor since power is getting from the timer and through the igniter to the motor. In my case I don't think the motor itself was bad, although it was about 10 years old. I think the problem was in the junction box on the motor, but not worth testing/fixing.
