I HAVE A WHIRLPOOL DUET WASHER, THE DRUM IS HITTING THE COUNTER WEIGHTS ON THE SPIN CYCLE ON HIGH. SO WE TRIED USING IT ON MEDIUM SPIN,SAME PROBLEM. NOW WE CAN ONLY USE THE WASHER ON MEDIUM WITH A MAX LOAD OF A QUARTER OF A LOAD. CAN YOU HELP US WITH THIS PROBLEM? I CHECKED THE 2 SPRINGS AND THE 4 SHOCKS TO SEE IF THEY WERE BROKEN AND THEY LOOK LIKE THEY'RE OK. IS THERE A SUPPORT IN THE FRONT OF THE DRUM THAT KEEPS THE DRUM FROM MOVING BACK AND FORTH? THE DRUM SHAKES AND BANGS FROM THE BACK TO THE FRONT OF THE WASHER, MORE TOWARD THE FRONT.

A lot of times visual inspection of the support struts or springs is not able to identify a problem. I would operate it with the back off and see if you can determine a problem.

Here is a service manual which may help.
