Model number should read: DSXH47EG1WW sorry.
My cats knocked a somewhat heavy, decorative ceramic item off of the shelf above the dryer while I was at work and I came home to a shattered mess and a dryer that was running for who knows how long. It will not turn off unless I open the door no matter what cycle it is on AND it will not heat. It will run, timer counts down but then when the time is up it keeps running. I have to unplug it while not in use (so I can keep the door shut). This dryer is only a little over a year old so I am not pleased. I have no idea how the cats knocking something on top of it caused this problem, or turned it on for that matter.
Advice please? Is this something I could fix myself and about how much would it cost? I can't afford a new dryer right now and I know that it would cost just as much to have someone come fix it (I only paid about $250 for it brand new - guess you get what you pay for).

Ouch. We have a cat like that, know what you are going through. Here is a service manual. See if you can put the machine into testing/error code mode. Unfortunately I am afraid at the end of the day you might be looking at a new control assembly which is pretty expensive. http://frigidaireservicetips.co...rGoodandBetterModels.pdfYes I know the manual is for a Frigidaire. That's what you got.
