My GE DBXR453EA1WW will tumble, but no heat on any setting. Checked the safety thermo left, control inlet, etc. all have continuity. Opened the circuit at the control inlet and got 40 ohms to the coils (19.2 ohms per coil per the wiring diagram). Had 120V to each coil at the control inlet. Any advice?? Thanks in advance!!

First thing you should do is check to see if the coils are grounded out. Check for ohms from each coil to ground with the wires unplugged. If you have any reading replaces the coils. Also if when you tested ohms across the thermostats you didn’t remove the wires recheck them (if you did don’t worry about it).

Take the tub out and look at the coils because every once in a while the coil will burn out but when it is cool you will get a reading then when it starts to heat it will open up. Look and if you see any bad spots and if so gently pull it to see if it comes apart. Be careful you don’t want to mess up a coil if it isn’t the problem.

The motor has a switch that could be bad. This switch will only allow the heater to operate if the motor is running. If the contacts on the switch are bad you could get this problem. The problem is this is hard to confirm due to the fact that the motor has got to be running to test (not recommended).

Thanks for the help...it was the motor switch. Had to buy a new motor and switch. You can test the motor switch by manually moving the centrifugal arm, which moves the switch level...then just check for continuity.
