It happens once or twice out of six or seven loads of wash. It may happen of either the first or second spin and sometimes on both. I have ruled out: 1. size of load, it can be a small load of delicates or a load of towels. 2. water temperature.

Noises are very hard for us to diagnose in a Forum because we really need to be there in person to listen to it, and we aren't are we? If you post a full model number we might be able to help, but you really need to be able to tell us where the noise is coming from.
