I have another question regarding my problem with white chalky residue on dishes.(Please see my previous post).

My Q is: Could the heating element be causing this white chalky residue?
I am wondering because the smooth, ceramic like coating(there is a small amount left on the element near where it goes into the floor of the tub)is gone on the majority of the elem. and has been replaced by a chalky like coating.??

Thanks in advance

This could very well be the source of your problem.
