Getting an F9 error. The charts I've read say to check the door lock circuit. How do you do that?

Check the switch on the door latch for continuity. It should be closed when the door is locked and open when the door is unlocked. If there is nothing wrong then the electronic oven control (aka clock) has to be replaced. - The part number for the clock is AP4309072 - The part number for the latch switch is AP375254 Here are the break down diagrams for the Magic Chef range Model CGR3742CDCGene.

Hi Gene,
When the door is closed, the latch will move all the way left to right (unlocked to locked) but still indicates "locked" on the display. When the door is open, the latch will not swing all the way from left to right. I apologize for my ignorance with all of this, so I sincerely appreciate your help.

Check if the door latch handle is not bend and is properly screwed to the door latch. Check the latch switch for continuity.
Gene.

Gene. I have Maytag electric range MER7662WS1. I'm getting an F9 code which precludes operating the range. I think I can check the door latch switch continuity for the open and closed latch positions by manually operating the little piston on the side of the switch. But should I also check that the motor will work? And if so, how? If the problem is in the ERC, the repair will be very expensive, and I expect to replace the whole range instead.
