The keypad on my dishwasher has partially stopped working. The On/Off works, the minute counter displays correctly, but the mode selector and options buttons are unresponsive. The child lock is either off or the light for it is burnt out, but I've tried un-child-locking it to no avail.

Anyone know how I can tell if it is the $70 key pad or the $170 control module that is the primary problem? Which part to test on which pins with a multimeter for signal/power/etc?

Thanks for any help.

Kerry,

Disconnect power to the dishwasher. Access the control board. Remove and reseat the keypad connector. It might help to eliminate the problem.

If the UP ARROW & DOWN ARROW keypads work, then you can run the Factory Test Mode. If they do not work, then there is no way to test anything.

In such situation the keypad has to be replaced first. If it would not help, the control board has to be replaced as well.

Hi Kerry and Gene, I have the same issue with my Dishwasher. Could you fix the problem reseting the control board ?
How do you do it ? I opened the lid but couldn't find any reset switch.
Thank you,
Jose

What is the complete model number of the dishwasher?

What exactly is wrong with your dishwasher?

Gene.

It is a GE quietpower 7.
Only Start, reset and lock keys work in the keypad.
I opened it but couldn't find a way to reset the motherboard
Thank you again.

Hi Jose,

"quietpower 7" is not a model number.

Jose,

Why did you think there is a reset switch? There are no such switches.

Your dishwasher is very similar to Kerry's, so the instructions are absolutely the same. Try to unplug and plug back the ribbon cable. If it would not help, replace the keypad. If this would not help, the control board has to be replaced as well.

I have a similar problem with my GE model PDW9980L00SS. It stops in mid-cycle and the minute display always shows 87. Before I replace the control board, I would like to run the factory test using the up/down keys. How do I run the test? I have already replaced the touch pad keypad. Sometimes, it will complete the cycle.
