Washer will properly fill, but just "buzzes" instead of pumping out water.

Take off the pump and see if something is jammed in it. Took a sock out of one just the other day.

Probably not what she meant by, "Put a sock in it!".

I've found very weird things stuck in water pumps but the most common is definitely the sock!

Thanks for your help. Now the pump is working and pumping out the water, but will not go through cycles. (nothing in pump). It also is overfilling, (on small load, water fill to top of basket) and will not go into agitate or spin. Still just buzzes loudly. Could the motor be jammed or stuck? It's direct drive, the first thing I looked for was a belt off. Thank you...

Start by checking the tube from the basket to the water level pressure switch. Clean it out and try again. That may fix your filling problem, but if the machine will still not go into agitate take the motor off and see if it runs while in spin mode (with the lid switch by-passed). Your problem can be the motor, capacitor, transmission, brake assembly or timer so you need to try to narrow it down.
