Dryer will not advance when set to auto dry sensing timer works fine when set to timed dry

you will want to check the vent from where it connects to the dryer all the way to where it goes outside.. the most common cause of this is restricted air flow in the vent.

Most of the time I have to replace the timer for this problem, AP32037954.
You can take the timer apart to verify, or just spray the timer inside with non-residue contact cleaner available ar Radio Shack. Turn the timer shaft while spraying.
