My fridge side of my unit is not going into defrost mode. I defrosted the unit manually, then started checking resistance on first the heating elements. The main heating element (the one that’s coiled with the evaporator) and it appears to be ok with 90 ohms or so… My thermistor measured around 1.5kOhm and moves around with heat, etc. This does not match what the manual says it should be, so I am suspicious this is the issue, but not 100%. I would think to replace this part, but I think there may be something else I need to check?
I am unsure, because when I put the refrigerator into defrost mode manually (hold the “Power freeze” and “Fridge” buttons at the same time for 8 sec, then press any button twice, display will read fd I believe) I am not getting any voltage where the plug for the main heater plugs in. What I do not know is if the manual mode bypasses both the defrost timer AND the thermistor or not.
I guess my questions are:
Should I get voltage out when in manual defrost mode? What should the resistance be for the thermistor What should the resistance be for the heating pad element (part number AP4137756 on this site) What should the resistance be for the part number (AP4136048)
I was thinking of just ordering all of these parts and just replacing everything, however the no voltage to the main heating coil is troubling me into thinking there could be a computer issue? In the defense of the unit, it does display a faulty defrost sensor when plugged in.
Any info will help, Thanks!!
